Last Sunday November 30, 2007 at approx. 4:30 AM one of our Sheriff Deputies was shot in the foot after responding to assist in a drug bust on our coast. Our Deputy remains unnamed, it will be interesting to find out if he was shot with his own weapon, it was recently discovered that some of our Deputies use a Smith & Wesson .45 that does not have a safety on it. There was very little news of the Bust or the shooting in our local papers.

The Deputy will recover from his injury. The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing any other details since his injury and how it occurred is part of an internal investigation.
Please contact Homeland Security to confirm what was seized and recovered.
