February 28, 2020 San Mateo County News.com was the first News and Information service to report she was on administrative leave as of February 10, 2020. That was the day she was physically removed from her office in Redwood City where she worked as a San Mateo County Sheriff Employee, and as the Executive Director of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Activity League. For the last 20 years she has been the Money person, Fundraiser.
She has worked for Sheriff Carlos G. Bolanos for the last 20 years, going back to when Mr. Bolanos was the Police Chief for Redwood City.
Bonilla was employed by Carlos G. Bolanos as a “Program Services Manager” and 2019 earned $187,913.01. She resigned from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office in May 2020. Why would she do that? Everybody in America knows, You are innocent until proven guilty. She wasn’t even charged with ANY crime at that time.
In May of 2020, Bonilla was being Investigated by both the SMCSO Office which is a huge conflict of Interest and the State of California Attorney Generals Office for Embezzlement and Money Laundering from the Sheriff’s Activity League, the money for Children.
This is a “Those Who Matter” case you couldn’t possibly find a more politically connected person in SMC.
Barbara Bonilla was Sheriff Carlos G. Bolanos’s Campaign Manager for the 2018 Election for Sheriff.
I haven’t seen any public comment from San Mateo County Sheriff Captain Christina Corpus, one of three candidates for Sheriff 2022, or Steve Booker a candidate for SMC Supervisor District 3 2022. Both are listed as Leaders of SAL. Also not much from Adam Alberti the Editor of RWC Climate publication also a member.
I have heard public comments from Carlos G. Bolanos and Steve Wagstaffe.
I would like to here from each member of the SAL Board. What have you done to assure the public that this will never occur again, Have you demanded yearly Audits, 2 signatures be required on bank accounts etc, What have you done.
I would like to personally thank San Mateo County Supervisor Don Horsley and his son Matthew Horsley who works for Sheriff Carlos G. Bolanos, without Don and Matthew I would have Never heard about Barbara Bonilla, Embezzling money from the children of San Mateo County.
