San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa calls it a Mistake. What if it was deliberate?

Supervisor David Canepa

On Thursday January 13, 2022 ABC 7 Investigative Reporter Dan Noyes interviewed Supervisor David Canepa about the More than $10,000,000.00 of PPE left outside the San Mateo County Event Center for several months unprotected.

San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa told the I-Team, “It’s because of your investigation, because of your investigation, that we have to acknowledge that we made a mistake. And the public needs to know that a mistake was made.” Looks like it wasn’t a mistake, now what?

San Mateo County Event Center Manager DANA STOEHR: “It’s, it was fully taken care of exactly the way it should have been.”

Mike Callagy is San Mateo County Manager. He is trained how Not to answer a simple question.

DAN NOYES: “Can you give me an idea of the amount of money we’re talking?”

MIKE CALLAGY: “I don’t know. There’s a lot of PPE out there.”

Mike Callagy told us he didn’t know about all that PPE that’s been deteriorating outside for months until I called. He immediately ordered county workers to bring the supplies back inside, to run an inventory and see how much of it is salvageable.

A source tells the I-Team a convoy of garbage trucks filled up with brand new PPE and took it to the dump, in the past two months — a massive waste of your tax dollars that the county promises won’t happen again.

Who ordered the “convoy of garbage trucks” What date or dates did that occur? What evidence is there that the trucks made it to the Dump.

These interviews took place on January 13, 2022. At 6:00 P.M. the same day James Brown of the Wine Country Marines announces on their Facebook page that San Mateo County Department of Emergency Management just gave him a boatload of PPE. That announcement was made 12 minutes before the ABC 7 I Team’s report was made public. That is Warp Speed in my opinion.

Stop any more of the PPE from leaving the SMC Convention Center right this minute.

This is the James Brown who was just given $10M of PPE
