San Mateo County Shelter in Place till May 3, 2020

By Michael G. Stogner

San Mateo County Manager Mike Callagy

Update: Louise Rogers Chief of Health stated 534 Tests Total in SMC through March 30, 2020.

According to the SMDJ article this morning wrote “The regional stay-at-home mandate will remain in place until at least May, said officials working diligently to ready San Mateo County for an expected surge in coronavirus cases.” It didn’t identify which SMC Government Officials made that order. I’ve asked County Manager Mike Callagy if it was him, or Dr. Scott Morrow?

Mike Callagy’s response “The orders come from the Health Officers in the Bay Area.  7 of them have come together to develop new and modify the old orders.  Dr. Morrow is the Health Officer for San Mateo County.”

One of the main unanswered questions for San Mateo County residents is How many COVID-19 tests have been taken to date? This is an important question. How many people in San Mateo County who have symptoms and went to Hospitals or Urgent Care locations and were sent home because no tests were available?

How many TESTS are available for the PUBLIC in San Mateo County Today?

There are 309 confirmed cases in San Mateo County, with six deaths linked to the disease. Callagy said officials are still gathering testing data which will help model a local curve of potential exposure and infection. Currently, he said the testing sample size is too small to be considered representative of the county. Why?

Mike Callagy said the business relief fund formed to aid local companies suffering in the wake of the shelter-in-place mandate is seeking donations as well. This is what the Board of Supervise gave $3M of taxpayer money to last week of course it wasn’t called that on the Agenda.

San Mateo County Close all Parks. Get on the same page.

By Michael G. Stogner

Update: March 27, 2020 1:30 PM Good News SMC Parks are Closed

This should be a no brainer, COVID-19 is a Virus with no cure, no vaccine, we don’t know how it spreads, we have first responders who wear PPE getting infected and San Mateo County Leaders think its ok to encourage people to leave their homes after Governor Newson issued a Stay in Home order, on top of San Mateo County Health Shelter in Place order. This is like the President saying go to Church on Easter Sunday.

Hello Nicholas,
Please apply common sense and meet the moment!
San Mateo County Parks message to “Keep Parks Open” is inconsistent with Scott Morrow’s message to the public and is giving the public the idea that it is just fine to go to your favorite park or beach. Your decision to keep County Parks open is straining local resources, especially the grocery markets, and absolutely increasing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yesterday, the public got into a yelling and screaming fight at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve after hours and sticks and logs were being thrown by visitors who appeared inebriated. I’m concerned that another bloody fist fight might breakout on the Pillar Point Bluff Trail as was the case not that long ago when an off leash dog walker got into a physical altercation with visitors and the Sheriff had to intervene.
Governor Newsom’s decision to close State Parks was wise; please follow his lead. I urge you to close all County Parks including the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Please take action and close County Parks TODAY before the weekend!

Thank you,

We initially held off on closing the parks given the importance of getting outside and exercising and doing things for the good of one’s mental health.  But because of the overwhelming crowds at the parks, people not practicing social distancing, and the shortage of park personnel, we made the call today to close all the County Parks.  A public announcement will be going out soon.

San Mateo County Elected Officials should be Decent Human Beings, Most are Not.

By Michael G. Stogner

Foster City Councilman Herb Perez is just one example. He will be removed and replaced April 1, 2020 when the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election results are Certified. San Mateo County Election Official Mark Church has stated the results will be certified by April 1, 2020 even though California Governor Gavin Newsom extended that date to April 22, 2020.

The Real Question here is what did every single elected official in San Mateo County do to remove Herb Perez from office as soon as they became aware of his behavior. Did any one of them contact Herb Perez by phone, letter or e-mail and suggest he apologize, provide the Black Belt to Julia Vo, promise to change his behavior etc or even resign to avoid a successful recall? It would be good for the public to know how many elected officials contacted Herb Perez.

What did they do to protect this child and her mother once they came forward with this video.

RECALL is the only Real Citizen Oversight it’s that simple.

I contacted Herb Perez about the way he treated Catherine Mahanpour during the nomination period for mayor pro tem in 2018/19.  His response was awful and I wrote him off at that point.

He is full of spit and vinegar.

San Mateo County Courts Closed for 60 Days.

By Michael G. Stogner

All courts in the State of California are closed and cases are delayed for 60 days. Better late then never, this was a no-brainer. San Mateo County Supervisors might take this time and finally secure the 400 County Center Building as they should have years ago. People entering the building without going through the metal detectors every single day.

Hon. Judge Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye Order

Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye said in her order that court facilities were “ill-equipped to effectively allow the social distancing and other public health requirements” that have been imposed across California to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

San Mateo County Election Results Extended 21 Days by Gov. Newsom.

By Michael G. Stogner

Update: March 23, 2020 Mark Church says the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election will be Certified April 1, 2020 barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Public Trust is the Key to Government Functioning. That includes all branches, Sheriff , District Attorney, Judges, Probation, Public Health, County Manager, County Counsel and yes Elections.

Why did Mark Church stop publishing the vote tally? Santa Clara County has continued to update on the schedule they told the public they would.

What difference does it make you might ask? For Foster City Residents it makes a big difference having Herb Perez an elected official recalled remain in office until the vote is certified. For District 13 Senate Race where Sally Lieber is in second place behind Josh Becker in Santa Clara County and she is leading Alexander Glew by 8,499 votes there. This one Senate seat involves both San Mateo County & Santa Clara County. Most of the Political Players in SMC do not want Sally Lieber in the picture. I’ll just give one example the SMDJ with 84,000 viewers wrote an article on Feb. 3, 2020 just in time to influence mail in voters they did not mention Sally Lieber and a few others. They endorsed a candidate who is not in the running. Today Sally Lieber is 1,164 votes out of Second Place where top two vote getters go to the November Election.

The March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election results deadline has been extended 21 Days by Governor Gavin Newsom. So final results will be April 22, 2020. As you know Mark Church has not provided an update since March 13, 2020. He also doesn’t seem to know about this order. It’s not on his website.

Here is what is on SMC website March 22, 2020

Important Information about Election Results

The Registration & Elections Division is shifting to minimal staffing for COVID-19 mitigation. In compliance with the order from the County Health Officer, the Elections Division located at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo will be closed to the public effective Tuesday, March 17 as a precautionary measure.

The Registration & Elections Division will continue to process all ballots as normal. The election will be certified no later than April 1, 2020, within the statutory deadline. The next results report will be the official Statement of the Vote.

Vote by Mail Ballots received: 198,265
This information is a raw count estimate as of 5 p.m. March 13, 2020 that is subject to change and updated daily.

There was supposed to be a March 17, 2020 update.

San Mateo County Residents remember the recent Measure W passing in the last two days of Mark Church reporting. It failed every reporting date up to the last two….

Let’s not make the mistake of electing Joe Biden.

By Michael G. Stogner

This is a letter written by a friend of mine, Lamont Phemister. This letter rings true for me I left the Democratic Party several years ago.

Dear South Carolina Democratic Committee Friends,
I am an a Democrat voter and I work to elect Democrats.  Let’s not make the mistake of electing Joe Biden.  Joe Biden helped G.W. Bush foolishly invade Iraq.

Democrat voters want a president who will bring our troops home and end our march to world war.  I volunteered and served in Vietnam in 1963-64,  We had no combat troops on the ground then and no one shot at me.  It took me a long time to recognize we should never have intervened.  I grieve for the youngsters from my home town sent to Vietnam after I was out of the service.  They died for no good reason.  Lyndon Johnson put combat troops in Vietnam because he didn’t want to be seen as “losing Vietnam.”   Our Vietnam intervention was a tragic and foolish effort.  We didn’t have to intervene in Vietnam to save them from being ruled by China.  China invaded Vietnam  in 1979 after we left and the Vietnamese drove them out quickly without our help.   Our commander in Afghanistan recently said there is no victory in sight.  Surely buying minerals from Afghanistan is less expensive than trying to change their society with weapons.

The leaders of our party don’t list ending our wars as a major objective.  Bernie does!  With $23 Trillion dollars in debt we rush to collapse.   This is foolish.

The leaders of our party are as bad as the Republicans about letting the super rich get ever growing shares of national wealth while small businesses and workers get less.   Bernie will lead us to restore the prosperity we had before Reagan started our national debt rising toward the clouds.   Cutting taxes whenyou have to borrow money to run the government is foolish.

What have Biden and the other the leaders of our party done to make health care available to all? If we are the richest nation on earth why do we let people suffer who can’t afford medical care in the US?  This is wrong and foolish.

Many ordinary voter think the Democratic Party does not act for them. If the Democrats don’t pick Bernie this time, I think the voters will leave the Democratic Party.
I have told my friends who have left the Democrats in disgust that we have to fix the Democratic Party, but maybe they are right.  Maybe we have to find another way for America to be a wise and  just nation.

Here below is the advertisement that I put in today’s Marion Star newspaper.
The largest newspaper in Southern Illinois refused my ad last week saying there was not enough time for Biden to reply before the election.
