Residents invited to serve on San Mateo County’s boards and commissions to influence local decisions

San Mateo County, California – San Mateo County encourages citizens to actively participate in forming their community through applications for several boards and commissions. Under direction by the County Board of Supervisors, this program aims to leverage local expertise and energy to lead and impact key areas of the government.

There are several roles open on several committees, each focused on particular aspects of community planning and development. The opportunities range from the Parks and Recreation Commission in District 1 to the Planning Commission, and from the Farmworker Advisory Commission to both Bayside and Coastside Design Review Committees. The county’s vacancy page has a comprehensive list of all the open positions where prospective applicants can also send their applications either by mail or online.

“Members or our boards and commissions serve a key role in our democratic local government,” said Board of Supervisors President David Canepa. “The members are really the eyes and ears of the Board of Supervisors at the local level and bring valuable advice and information to our Board.”
