San Mateo’s 48th Annual Eggstravaganza returns April 19 with family-friendly egg hunts, live entertainment, and springtime fun at Central Park

San Mateo, California – The City of San Mateo is ready to host its 48th Annual Eggstravaganza, a long-standing tradition that unites the community to greet spring with a flurry of activities and joyful celebration. Promising an interesting morning regardless of the weather, this much anticipated event is set for Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Central Park, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

Families from San Mateo and beyond are welcome to enjoy a range of activities suited for every age. Meticulously planned to fit various age ranges, the egg hunts—the event’s highlight—guarantee a safe and fun experience for every youngster.

While the Large Egg Hunt is open for kids ages 4-11, the Small Egg Hunt is designed for toddlers 0-3 years. Children need a wristband to take part; residents can reserve one online beginning April 2; non-residents can reserve one starting April 3. Though online booking is recommended to ensure involvement, a small quantity of wristbands will also be available on the day of the event.

Besides the exciting egg hunts, guests may anticipate several live acts planned all during the morning. Entertainment will start at 9:15 AM with The Puppet Art Theater Co., followed by a lively costume competition at 10:15 AM. Contestants are invited to parade their costumes around the park after displaying them on stage and may register on the day of the event. Lori & RJ will close the entertainment schedule by performing wonderful singing and dancing at 11:15 AM.

A unique draw at the Eggstravaganza is the chance to snap pictures with the Spring Bunny—a beloved fixture at the event. To guarantee the bunny can leave by the end of the event, guests are recommended to join the line early as it will close at 11:30 AM. Available at no cost, this beloved contact enhances the family-friendly attractiveness of the event.

Food vendors will provide a variety of options, so culinary pleasures will be available throughout the event. Perfect for beginning the day, the Rotary Club of Peninsula Starlight will provide breakfast foods like pancakes and sausages. For those wanting something new, Respectable Bird will serve chicken sandwiches and fries among other goodies, Humphrey’s Slocombe will provide ice cream and pastries to satisfy sweet desire, and Edi’s Quesabirria & Taco’s will provide Mexican food.
