San Mateo County to host Child Care Town Hall on September 16 at Main Library

San Mateo County, California – Soon, parents and caregivers in San Mateo County will be able to talk about their experiences with child care at a community forum. The Child Care Town Hall 2025 will be held on Tuesday, September 16, at 6 p.m. at the San Mateo Main Library.
The event is part of a series of talks happening across the county that are meant to give families and providers a chance to talk about how the child care problem is really affecting them. This will be the third meeting in the series, and organizers stress that parents’ opinions are very important in coming up with new solutions.
Taking care of children is becoming one of the most important social and economical challenges for families. The expense of caring for a single baby in San Mateo County may be more than $30,000 a year, which is one of the highest in the country. At the same time, a lack of providers means that thousands of parents don’t have any good options. To meet their child care demands, families often have to make hard choices including cutting back on expenditures, going into debt, abandoning their jobs, or even moving.
The people putting on the town hall want parents from all backgrounds to come. All points of view are important, whether they be those who are having trouble getting a position on long waitlists, those who have to leave their jobs to care for their children at home, or those who are happy with the way things are now. County leaders want to learn more about the problems with the current system by gathering these accounts.

The town hall will provide a light dinner for attendees and a special area for kids, although space will be restricted. Families that want to bring kids are urged to let us know in advance so we can make sure there is enough room.
The events show that local officials are more committed to making inexpensive and reliable child care more accessible. County officials say that real change can only be realized if the community is heavily involved. The goal of the upcoming conference is to give parents more power and make it easier to build a system where every family has what they need to do well.
The town hall is a chance for families in San Mateo County to not only be heard, but also to help shape the creation of a child care system that works for everyone.
