San Mateo launches new online system allowing residents to report neighborhood problems in minutes

San Mateo, California – A broken streetlight, graffiti on a neighborhood wall or overgrown weeds may seem like small problems, but getting them reported to the right city department can sometimes be frustrating. Residents now have a simpler way to bring these concerns directly to City staff without searching for different contacts or offices.
The City of San Mateo has introduced My San Mateo, a new digital service request system that brings multiple city services together through one online portal and mobile app. The platform allows residents to report problems, follow their requests and receive updates as their concerns are addressed.
Instead of figuring out which department handles a particular issue, residents can submit their concerns through the My San Mateo Online Service Request Portal. The system sends each request directly to the appropriate City staff for review and response.

The service covers a wide range of non-emergency concerns, including streetlight outages, graffiti, overgrown weeds and other issues requiring City attention.
One of the platform’s main features is its ability to keep residents informed after they file a report. Users can track the progress of their requests and receive notifications whenever the status changes.
Residents who create a My San Mateo account gain additional options for managing their reports. Once logged in, they can review previously submitted requests, check whether an issue has been addressed and provide more details when City staff need additional information.
Account holders can also choose how they want to receive notifications, with SMS, email and voice options available during account setup. The mobile app supports push notifications for updates and status changes.

However, creating an account is not required to receive information about a submitted request. The City says residents will receive email updates following submission and will be notified once the reported issue has been resolved or the work is completed.
For people who prefer reporting concerns from their phones, the My San Mateo app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. It can be downloaded to smartphones and tablets.
The City emphasizes that My San Mateo is designed exclusively for non-emergency service requests. Situations requiring immediate assistance or an urgent police response should still be reported by calling 911.
By combining reporting, request tracking and notifications in one system, San Mateo is giving residents a more convenient way to communicate neighborhood concerns while staying informed about the City’s response.
