San Mateo County Human Services Agency releases annual report highlighting community impact

San Mateo County, California – The Human Services Agency of San Mateo County has released its Annual Report for the fiscal year 2024–25. It gives an in-depth summary of how the agency helped those in need. The study talks about advances in housing, public assistance, job services, and child welfare, focusing on both the measured results and the real-life stories behind them.

According to Director Claire Cunningham, the results show that the agency is focused on fairness, compassion, and working together. She said that the results were achieved as a result of relationships with staff, community groups, and service providers. The study stresses the idea of making families stronger and giving them ways to find stability.

The publication include data that indicates how far the agency can reach. The Economic Self-Sufficiency branch helped over 189,000 Medi-Cal customers and around 49,200 CalFresh members get health insurance and food. Through cooperation with local organizations, the Center on Homelessness helped 1,187 families find homes and gave 2,781 people a place to stay. Also, Vocational Rehabilitation Services gave out more than 98,000 meals at the Navigation Center and used the program to teach participants how to work in food service.

Child welfare outcomes also stand out. The report says that 90% of the foster adolescents the agency looks after graduated from high school. This is much higher than the statewide average of 75%. This success shows that programs that help young people deal with the problems of being in foster care work.

The study addresses numbers, but it also focuses about how these initiatives have affected people personally. One father, who got help from the Bringing Families Home program, talked about how his family’s situation got better after they were homeless. He said that the program offered his kids hope and helped them go forward together in a secure family.

A participant in the Navigation Center’s Catering Connection cooking program also gave an account. She talked about how the event provided her fresh inspiration and a career path in restaurant service. The initiative, which is meant to provide people hands-on training, not only provides meals but also helps them find jobs.

The research shows how targeted services and working together may make a big difference in the lives of residents. The agency sees its job as both helping people right away and investing in the community’s long-term resilience.
