San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office swears in 10 new employees during San Mateo County ceremony
San Mateo County, California – San Mateo County’s public safety ranks grew stronger this week as the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office welcomed a new group of employees and marked another step forward for several members of its team.
During a swearing-in ceremony held on Thrusday, the Sheriff’s Office recognized 10 individuals who have chosen to serve the county in law enforcement, corrections and professional support roles.
The ceremony served as both a formal beginning and a public moment of recognition for those stepping into positions that carry daily responsibility, public trust and a direct connection to the community.

After taking the oath of office, the agency officially welcomed six Deputy Sheriffs, two Correctional Officers and two Professional Staff Members. Together, the group represents the continued growth of the Sheriff’s Office and its ongoing effort to expand and support the people behind its public safety work.
The ceremony was not only about new titles. It also reflected the values expected of those who wear the badge, work inside county facilities or support operations behind the scenes. In public service, the work often reaches far beyond job descriptions. It is measured in judgment, patience, professionalism and the way each person serves residents during ordinary days and difficult moments alike.
Sheriff Ken Binder used the occasion to remind the newly sworn team members that a career in service is shaped by character as much as achievement.

“As you leave here today, remember that a career is not defined by the titles you earn, but by the way you treat people, the way you carry yourself when no one is watching and the example you set for those who will someday follow in your footsteps,” Binder said.

His message gave the ceremony a broader meaning, turning the milestone into a reminder of the responsibility that comes with joining the Sheriff’s Office. For the new employees, the oath marked the beginning of a public service journey. For the agency, it marked another investment in its future.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said the day reflected its continued commitment to strengthening the organization from within while supporting the growing team that serves communities across the county.
Congratulations were extended to each of the newly sworn individuals as they reached this important milestone and began the next chapter of their work with the Sheriff’s Office.
