San Mateo brings back Central Park Music Series for a summer of free concerts and fun

San Mateo, California – The City of San Mateo is once again bringing the rhythm of summer to life with its beloved Central Park Music Series, a free concert series held every Thursday evening at Fitzgerald Field. Running from June 26 through August 14, 2025 (with a special Independence Day event on July 4), this community event promises upbeat music, delicious food, family activities, and plenty of sunshine.
Kicking off on Thursday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., the series begins with the laid-back reggae sounds of Native Elements, setting the tone for a season full of diverse musical acts. The lineup features something for everyone—from ’90s hits and dance party favorites to Latin grooves, Cajun beats, boogie-woogie classics, and even country rock. The concerts are designed to bring people of all ages together for an easygoing evening outdoors, surrounded by the charm of Central Park.
While there won’t be a concert on Thursday, July 3, the city is rolling out a special celebration the very next day. On Friday, July 4, the community is invited to join a patriotic day of festivities starting at 11:00 a.m. Highlights include family-friendly activities, a ceremonial flag raising and national anthem at 11:45 a.m., and a live concert from 12 to 2 p.m.
Every Thursday evening (and on the special July 4 event), concertgoers can also support a good cause by taking part in the Police Activities League (PAL) raffle. Set up on-site each week, PAL offers attendees the chance to win exciting prizes while helping to fund programs that benefit San Mateo’s youth. Raffle tickets start at just $1, with bundle deals available. Prizes include theater tickets, gift sets, movie passes, and more—all generously donated by local businesses. Payments are accepted via cash, card, or Venmo, making it easy to participate.
